Poniżej przedstawiam rysunek z instrukcji do Minelaba GP 3500, ale sądzę, że obrazuje dobrze wagę dobrego ustawienia thresholdu w niemal każdym wykrywaczu (no, może poza np. Garrettami w trybie dynamicznym).

Jeśli sygnał wiodący jest ustawiony na granicy słyszalności, wówczas można wychwycić najmniejszą nawet zmianę sygnału. W innych przypadkach nie jest to możliwe.
